I really appreciate the perspective Mike Rowe offers in this video. As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to get caught up in the desire to chase our passion, our desires, that which excites us. However, if we take the time to evaluate our experience, abilities, direction, and what we were designed to do, then we can choose a DIRECTION. And once we have a direction, we can CHOOSE to be passionate about it.
Great piece. I have heard Mike Rowe in several other segments and interviews and he is great to listen to and learn from. I do not remember, or maybe never heard, about his early failures in trying to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. Without those failures and that early pivot, we probably wouldn’t know who he is today. And all of these years later, he has done more for the trades being on the “outside”, then he probably ever would have been able to do by staying “inside” the industry. Ironic.
